Pursing Change vs becoming the Change

A lot can happen in 365 days, in fact, you’ve probably realised at some point that your whole world can change in just one moment!  That’s why I’ve been thinking a lot about change and readiness recently.

For example, the Bible talks about being transformed by the renewing of the mind and the re-creating of the heart, and likewise that our body prospers just as our soul prospers. All of this points back to a need to change at an intracellular level before it happens on an extra-cellular level, in a nutshell, it means that you are first required to change inside before the change manifests on the outside.

Apparently, 50-70 billion of our cells are “born” each day to replace the ones that have died, that gives us amazing power and potential to impact what version of our cells are being born.

You can literally be a different person 1 year from now, even 6 months from now!!! Isn’t that amazing?

So that’s change but what about readiness? Readiness and change go hand in hand. There is a BIG difference between pursuing change and BEcoming the change. Most often we pursue external change, but we’re not ready for it, we have not BECOME the change and therefore we can’t manifest it.

Pursuing change vs becoming the change

How can you tell that you are ready for the change you desire? Some questions to ask yourself are:

  • How ready am I to face, embrace and even push through the fear, pain and discomfort?
  • How willing am I to allow change in my life and not close the door or walk away from opportunities when they arise?
  • How am I intentionally supporting and nurturing change to take root in my life?
  • Am I willing to take risks and seize the day or do I want to play it safe in case I get hurt?

When we can consistently move towards the direction of embracing inner change, we open ourselves up to opportunities which manifest in more of what we truly desire. We Become the Change and therefore we attract it into our lives via people, circumstances, situations and opportunities.

Maybe you have been saying “No!” to what you desire more than you’ve been saying yes and so nothing much has changed for you because you are still being led by your old thoughts, beliefs and ways.

YHWH’s Word says:

“let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” (Romans 12:2, NLT).

God has a good, pleasing and perfect will for you, your life, this world but it requires TRANSFORMATION on our side – that means not being the same, being different than we were before, changing, growing, adapting, evolving, becoming.

How do you think your life might change in 2018 if you were to focus on becoming the change over pursuing the change?
